Privacy Policy for Freak In The Sheets

Last Updated: June 22, 2025

1. Introduction

Freak In The Sheets ("FITS," "we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and safeguard your information when you use our Google Sheets add-on (the "Service").

2. Information We Collect

To provide and improve our Service, we collect or access the following information obtained through Google APIs and user input:

  • Google Account Information: Your email address, to serve as a unique identifier for usage analytics and account management.
  • User-Provided Information: API keys for external AI services (e.g., Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, OpenAI) that you voluntarily save in the add-on settings.
  • User-Generated Content: The text prompts that you enter into the =FITS() formula or process in a batch.
  • Aggregated Usage Data: Anonymized metrics such as feature usage patterns, formula execution counts, and error logs to analyze performance and improve the Service.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes:

  • To Provide Core Functionality: We process your prompts to execute AI formulas and deliver generated content back to your Google Sheet.
  • To Store Your Configuration: We use Google's secure PropertiesService to store your saved API keys within your account's script storage.
  • To Improve Our Service: We analyze aggregated usage data to understand which features are most used, diagnose technical issues, and enhance the user experience.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. However, to operate the Service, we must share specific pieces of your data with the following third-party services:

  • External AI Providers (e.g., Google, Anthropic, OpenAI): When you execute a FITS formula, your text prompt is sent to the AI service you have configured (such as Google for the Gemini API). This is essential for generating the AI response. These providers process data according to their own privacy policies. We do not use AI providers that use customer data for model training.
  • Backend Service Provider (Supabase): We use Supabase for secure backend database and analytics hosting. We send your email address (as a unique identifier) and aggregated usage metrics to Supabase to monitor overall service health and analyze usage patterns.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

  • Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit between your browser, Google servers, and our third-party services using TLS (HTTPS).
  • Secure Storage: Your API keys are stored within Google Apps Script's PropertiesService, which is tied to your Google Account and not directly accessible by us. Our backend database at Supabase is access-controlled and secure.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your information only as long as necessary.

  • User-Controlled Data: Information within your Google Sheet (formulas, results, cell notes) and your saved API keys are under your control. You can delete this information at any time by editing your sheet or uninstalling the add-on.
  • Backend Analytics Data: We retain usage data linked to your email identifier for analytics purposes. You may request the deletion of your personal analytics data from our systems at any time by sending an email to hello@freakinthesheet.net. We will process your request within 30 days.

7. Compliance with Google Policies

Freak In The Sheets' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google Workspace API User Data and Developer Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
